Ivy Sports Junkie, thanks for the nice comment. Covering people like you in this league is what make my job so enjoyable. You are all outstanding both athletically and academically and have interesting stories to be told. I am one of the fortunate people that gets the opportunity to tell those stories.

Old Lion, thanks for the kind words. While it may be hard at times, we try to be as objective as we can knowing that a.) the games are on ESPN+ and b.) there are families, friends and alumni of Brown's opponents watching the games too. When Russ and I do the radio broadcasts of our road basketball games, we can afford to be a bit more biased in our commentary.

Brown Fan, I enjoy reading your insights and those of others on this board. You all seem to have a pretty good handle as to what is going on or what should be happening in the league. No need for a knucklehead like me to ruin the conversation. lol

Scott, I am not a Brown alumnus, but I have caught several of your broadcasts when my team plays in Providence. Russ and you do a fine job which I always enjoy. As a visiting fan, thank you.

By the way, I do not mind that you don't completely hide that you are the Brown Bear announcers. To a certain extent, hearing a bit of your emotional investment in the Bears adds to the experience for a viewer on ESPN+. Boosterism is fine; it's when you can't see the game straight that it becomes a problem.

The two guys who broadcast Penn Quaker games from The Palestra are Exhibits A and B for what *NOT* to do. I'm sure that you know who I'm talking about. When these guys do a game on ESPN+, every foul against a Quaker is a terrible, outrageous call. Every foul that isn't called on an opposing player is a travesty.

These Penn guys insult the intelligence of their viewers. First, we know at least a little about the sport at hand. Second, we know that 100% of the calls against Penn cannot be bad calls. Palestra referees are not on the payroll of the other seven Ivy League coaches.

By that standard, Russ and you are 100% down the middle of the fairway. I have no problem with your affection for Brown.

Easily Tim Murphy. He doesn’t even pretend to be impartial.

Observer:

Take it easy on my guy Vince. I love listening to his broadcasts! At least you know where he stands. He is all in on his Quakers as most of us are with the teams we cover. Vince just can't hide the love he has for Penn.

Scott

Speaking of outstanding academics, you are a proud Cuse alumnus of their Newhouse School of Public Communications. They offer one of the top five broadcast journalism programs, along with Mizzou, Northwestern, Columbia and USC or the Ivy League of Broadcast Journalism. However, Syracuse clearly stands alone as the number one university in sports broadcast journalism.

You fit in the mold of fellow legendary Cuse alumni Sports Broadcasters, including Bob Costas, Marv Albert, Dick Stockton, Len Berman, Sean McDonough, Mike Tirico, Dave Pasch and Ian Eagle.

Newhouse was much easier to get into back in the 80's! lol
