Fullback Kyle Udoh is in the transfer portal. This year he ran for 1,117 yards at 6.2 average. It’s still rare that a service academy player enters the portal. I think the transfer portal is out of hand that any movement in that direction is closely watched.

While no doubt less common than transfers at most D1 colleges these days, it's not really that unusual for a service academy. Cadets or midshipmen must transfer no later than at beginming of junior year (Kanye Udoh is listed on USMA website as a sophomore), otherwise the post-graduation service commitment kicks in, and they are required to repay the tuition expenses for their time at the academy. If you are not certain you want to accept that commitment, you must opt out. Not just for athletes, although now with NIL, I imagine the incentives to leave are magnified.
