In reply to: SpuytenDuyvil76 's message, "Brown v Columbia" on 20:34:18 02/21/25 Fri

the only conclusion I can draw is that we had only two players who went all out last night, the good first year guards Cobb and O’Keefe, and that everybody else mailed it in. The team obviously believes that Engles is gone. It is hard to see how badly Engles has run this program into the ground—can’t recruit, can’t retain talent, and can’t coach. Can’t even teach defense, which s coaching 101 when you are outmanned. Same pattern—decent OOC record then everybody wises up to where we are weak and explodes those weaknesses. We have gone from competitive teams under Kyle Smith to the worst team in the IL and one of the worst teams in the long history of Columbia basketball. No ecuses—look at football, WBB, baseball, etc. If this guy isn’t sent packing I will never attend or even watch another Columbia MBB.

Sad to see Lions MBB program turn into a noncompetitive disaster after a promising start (see: win at Villanova ). There is talent here but it seems that
there is either no coaching effort to improve defensively or that that players have “checked out.” Engles’ success at NJIT hasn’t transferred over to Morningside
Heights in any way shape or form. Agree, Old Lion, that the product has become unwatchable …
