With three games remaining in Columbia Men's Basketball "Season From Hell," the Lions are once again firmly locked into the Ivy League Cellar with a 1-10 record. The team is 12-10 overall, but that was because their non-conference schedule was one of the weakest in the country. Jim Engles has never had a winning season in the Ivy League or overall since his appointment as Columbia's Head Coach in 2015. Engles record against Columbia's Ivy League opponents is now an atrocious 24 wins and 83 losses. Overall, Engles is 70 wins and 143 losses. Columbia's Athletic Director Peter Pilling is
understood to be Engles boss. Mr. Pilling has made three key coaching appointments during his tenure at Columbia. He
approved the hiring of Megan Griffith as Columbia's Head Wome n's Basketball Coach. Certainly, that was a great hire. Mr. Pilling also approved the hiring of Jon Poppe as Columbia's
Head Football Coach. Like Coach Griffith, Jon Poppe has been enormously successful as Columbia's Head Football Coach.
While some Columbia fans describe the hiring of Coach Griffith and Coach Poppe as "obvious' hires that would have happened under any athletic director, I do give credit to Mr. Pilling for approving their hires, whether "obvious" or not. Having said that, I feel that by every reasonable standard, Coach Engles tenure at Columbia has been a failure and Mr.Pilling has been remiss in not firoing Engles years ago. My opinion, is that unless Mr. Pilling does that within the next two weeks someone else with the authority to do so needs to immediately
step in and replace Coach Engles with a better coach for the
sake of the present and future Columbia players, and Columbia's alumni and fans.

If I were a Columbia fan (I’m not), this would be a no brainer. I assume you’ve e-mailed the AD directly? Otherwise, you’re wasting your virtual breath posting to a sports blog.
