"President Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday designed to limit how long athletes can play college sports and how often they can transfer between schools. The order directs the NCAA to create rules that mandate college athletes can play for 'no more than a five-year period' and allows them to transfer schools only once before they graduate without having to sit out a season."

Nice idea, but I don't see where any legal authority exists for it and doubt it will hold up in court.

Will this also apply to the coaches? Unless the coaches are subject to the same rules, then I say this is BS...

There, in fact, is a penalty for coaches who move on to another job while still under contract. It’s called a buy out. They have to buy their way out of the contract which they are breaking in order to take the next job. Now, whether the coach has to put up the buy out or the new school is willing to do it, there is nonetheless a penalty that must be paid. Might be an apples to oranges comparison but fruit is fruit.

Why not order only Christians can win Rhodes Scholarships? Or college orchestras much include at least two oboists? Or all French courses must be taught in English translation?

Hey, he’s a very smart Ivy League grad.

There's a certain irony here in that he entered the Ivy League through the transfer portal himself and, if I had to guess, his father may have paid Penn a hefty NIL payment from the family collective.

Whatever, but there is no question that President Trump saved women sports from disaster and for that we should all be grateful.

Surprisingly, UCLA is leading South Carolina 36-23 at halftime of the NCAA Championship Game. Columbia fans who are watching the game will recognize the striking similarities between the way their Lions successfully defeated Brigham Young in the WNIT Championship Game and and the way UCLA is playing against Soth Carolina.

I'm not a fan of trans athletes participating in womens sports as a general rule, but given that Charlie Baker says he knows of no more than 10 such athletes among 510,000 athletes total, "saving womens sports" strikes me as over the top, and certainly not remotely as important as the transfer/NIL issues affecting virtually everyone.

I don't like talking politics and hate to admit I am a Republican. Regardless I think U.S. presidents have more important things to worry about than college sports.
