apparently Columbia baseball is still alive - and will most likely make the Ivy tournie by the hair of their respective chins. Keeping my good eye on the schedule and standings - it seems we have clinched - in fact the Ivy athletic site said we had - than took off the asterisk that noted we had secured that last spot on the dance card - strange! AS you can see from our record - we have had a tough season - we only managed to win two series - therefore we have a weird record that includes a tie - which I did not even know was a thing in any kind of baseball.

as for our tourie hopes - unless I am reading it wrong even if Dartmouth sweeps their upcoming Yale series - the Green can't take that last spot.

Of course our baseball team led by Coach Boretti has been a perennial contender but for some reason not as dominant this year.

Two senior hurlers, Evan Kleinhans and Tom Santana, stepped it up this weekend with brilliant performances against Cornell in Ithaca, allowing Columbia to win the three-game series and capture the final spot in the Ivy League Championship Tournament. Columbia also got some clutch hitting from guys in its strong sophomore class all of whom will be returning next year. My opinion is that the Ivy League was much stronger overall this year than in the recent past.

The Ivy League office has finally woken up and confirmed on its website that Columbia has clinched a berth in the Ivy baseball championship. Very simple task. Should’ve been done swiftly and competently.
