Lafayette looks physically better than Columbia, but Lions are hanging around.

17-14 Leopards at the half.

Absolutely pathetic performance from the Lions tonight, they are playing as if they don’t care about this game whatsoever!

This is proof that playing a team who is playing their4th game,,that the Ivy League needs to start at least 2 weeks earlier and add 2 more games with a bye during the season.
Robin Harris , and the brain trust need to not drag their heels and put this together sooner than later. An antiquated idea needs to be resolved and a new path for success.

Ivy wanna be, great idea to level the playing field a bit and perhaps prevent some injuries in the process. Is anybody listening ? Or is the reply going to be "this is always the way its done in the Ivies." ??

Robin Harris has no authority here. Neither do the ADs. Lobby your presidents and the members of the "policy committee."

I'm with the Ivy wanna be on this one. It's insane for the Ivy League schools to begin their football season three weeks later than their opponents.

Incidentally, who is "Robin Harris" and why is such person in charge of making the rules regarding Ivy League football rather than the University Presidents or the Athletic directors?

There was a different game speed in the second half between the two teams which is to be expected. Huge competitive disadvantage for Ivy teams to play other teams that have a full 3+ weeks of game conditioning. Ivies should start the first week or two playing eachother then have non-conference games n

Thanks for dredging up that old story GG -- I hear you are dating a Dartmouth tackling dummy. Or you might be one...

Gentlemen; speaking on the obvious, it is a disadvantage to start a season playing squads who have already had three games under their belts. I for one would like to see the ancient eight at least start their season one week earlier and add an additional game I have expounded, that may be it takes the players to move the marker to accomplish his goal as was accomplished, by getting into the playoffs.

The Ivy spent about 25 years (or so) opening up against conference opponents. They figured that both teams were starting the season, so the odds were even.

Eventually, the coaches decided that it was too costly to break in new and inexperienced players against a conference foe, and that it was better to take our lumps against OOC teams that had played several games.

I agree that it would be ideal to start earlier and add an eleventh game. But until that happens...

Maybe there is hope for an 11th game as Ivy Admin just allowed ice hockey to go up to 30 regular season games.

At one time, during the 9 game era and maybe a bit beyond, Ivies opened with an OOC opponent. We opened with Rutgers. I believe that the coaches came to feel that opening the season against teams that already had started play was too disadvantageous and the League went to opening against fellow Ivies. I remember opening against Dartmouth. I believe eventually our coaches did not like opening against a conference opponent snd we went back to the current arrangement.

I can’t recall, but I think there was a time during this last schedule reset that OOC opponents only had 2 games before playing us. The current situation is ridiculous IMO. But after the nearly 70 years it took them to green light post season play, asking the Presidents to move the schedule up a week or two, with perhaps a bye-week would probably require the administration of smelling salts.

Whoever this is aiming at, the quality of opponent today (as opposed to last night) generally is not high, including teams that used to be better. And we can win all 8 games and still wonder whether this is the best scheduling for openers, whoever the opponents are.

Oh hell, why not get the Ivy games out of the way in July and August, play 3 or 4 OOC games every other week in the Fall and voila! the Champ is well rested for the post season, everyone has time to keep up with classes, and injuries have had plenty of time to heal!

Think outside of the box, guys! We’re all smart.😁
