Subject: Understatement of the season....from the Harvard Crimson

Today's Harvard Crimson, in a well-written article about Harvard's desire for revenge against Brown following last year's loss, described the key play (with a minute or so remaining and Harvard up by 5) as follows: "Last year, a failed Crimson field goal in the final quarter gave the Bears — the definitive underdogs of the game — the opportunity to clinch a surprising victory against Harvard for the first time since 2010."

It was, of course, far worse than a "failed field goal." It was a blown snap that sent the ball over the holder's head and 30 yards in the wrong direction (from Harvard's perspective) that Brown then advanced another 35 yards. Brown capitalized on the next play, and that was the game.

As far as bizarre and happy finishes go in Brown's history, it ranks with the 1999 extra point blocked by Yale that Brown recovered and advanced for a 2-point conversion and the win. I can only hope that this year's game is similarly exciting.

Havard should not be seeking revenge, they did it to themselves on that clumsy attempt to put the game out of Bruno's reach. Give them credit despite their weak kicking game they still won the confrence championship.

During media day they said "they don't like sharing " meaning they want to win The championship outright. They if Harvard wants to compete a championship trilogy they may have to do it by week nine. Because in recent years Yake has had their number.

Aside from avenging a bad loss to Brown, I’ve been hoping that the Crimson is motivated by the potential to play in a postseason. Harvard has backed into a co-championship the past few years. I’m sure the coaches are focused on winning this one outright.
