I’m shocked Massey only has the Brown-URI game at a touchdown. URI is ranked 6th in the FCS polls. I’m expecting a blowout similar to the Harvard game.

Gentlemen; now, after entering the first turn, some of the horses look good others unpredictable, and the remaining not so good. The horses making to the finish line this weekend are our blue, cantabs,Indians, tigers and cornelians.

Old Blue,

I always enjoy your posts. I am a bit mystified by your choice of upper and lower cases. I can understand the tigers and cantabs and even cornel lions in lower case. But, why blue? And why Indians in uppercase? And finally, aren’t the Indians now simply the big green?

Gentlemen; To Mr. Tiger 69 I enjoy your posts also and miss palmer stadium and freshmen contests outside the morning of the varsity game.. Blue was back in the day common reference to the Yale squad. Reference to Indians in uppercase just a choice of dictation without a significance. I will try to be more careful with consistency and will definitely take into consideration changing reference to our squad with the designated name of either. eli or bulldogs.

Rooting for Columbia vs Princeton obviously - but not confident we can prevail in the garden state

Rhode Island over Brown

Lehigh over Yale - game is in PA

Dartmouth over Penn - although this game also in PA

Colgate over Cornell - battle of central NY in Ithaca - not sure what to make of Colgate - seems they have been down last few years

Harvard over winless Cross

Colon must've been looking for your guy, Greene all night long; which explains why he went 7/17 with an interception. There's a receiver Jalen Geer, but he's only caught three passes on the season - no Greene. Well oiled machine? NOT.

Perhaps this stems from my original misspelling, but for future reference his name is spelled Green.

Although last night I believe it might have been spelled Josh Robinson.

and now, you really ought to run out and let ESPN know: https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4893710/jalen-geer

though you do deserve credit for at least trying to get the name right. all too many folks, from the school you know too well, and carrying that selfsame, detestable smirk worn by the secretary of war, may see Greene, Geer, Robinson or any other black kid from the south, not even acknowledging that there's a human being in front of them worthy of accurate name recognition!

Velma: I concede that there are a few fellow Tigers like the one you mentioned that I would like to sweep under the rug. Sadly, all great universities have a few that fail to incorporate the humanistic message that IMHO is implicit in a good education.

Brown bounces back vs. URI

Lehigh over Yale in a scoring match

Harvard handles Holy Cross, though a Holy Cross victory would be fun because this forum has anointed Harvard to be the greatest team ever. :)

Princeton tames the lions.

My bias pick- Penn plays better defense and does not turn the ball over and beats a steady Big Green.

Enjoy the games. Go Quakers

Tough for the Elis, one each WR out in the last two games, and new QB. They always get better as the season goes on, but this is early. Lots of transfers on Lehigh team and a coach who used to work at Yale. Go Blue.

The undefeated Lehigh team will be an especially tough test for the Elis. Not only has Lehigh played 3 more games than Yale, it has faced a fairly tough schedule with 3 teams with winning records, only one team with a losing record at 2-3 and defeated a nationally ranked Richmond team.

This is a perfect example of how our very late season start makes it so much harder to win our non-conference games against stronger FCS opponents.

The task for Princeton is first to maintain its offensive success with its spread-it-around passing game (10 different receivers in both games) and mix of running backs. Second, its overall defense needs to improve, especially pressuring the QB. Finally, punt/KO coverage could be tightened up.

Columbia has become a normal Ivy football program, after decades of its Administration's overall neglect, and I am not sure what to expect in this game. I have not followed the details of their play, but I don't believe its comparative result in its first game vs. P's result against the same team in its second game means anything. Cheers.

For many years Brown controlled this rivalry. But that was years ago, and in the recent past URI has had the better of it. Why? They have better players and a better coach. Is this a knock-on Perry? It is. On his show this week Perry seemed oblivious to what happened last week and why it happened. His take was that it was just a series of bad plays by Brown that snowballed. He even graciously took responsibility for the play that started the slaughter. I know as a coach he is supposed to remain positive but give me a break. Brown had a series of bad plays because Harvard was in their face causing those bad plays. Brown lost because they were simply overpowered on both lines. There was nothing fancy about it. It was simply a matter of stronger, faster, and more athletic players asserting their dominance. So, if URI has players even approaching the quality of the H players, how is Brown going to win? As I see it, URI 35 Brown 21.

The result surprised me. Brown had not beaten URI since 2017. At the end, I didn't feel that Brown was the better team, but they played better. And that is what counts. In retrospect, I don't think URI is as good as they were advertised, and I think Brown is better than I gave them credit for. I have been down on Perry for some time, but I have to give him a lot of credit for how well Brown played last night. I have always maintained that the key to winning football is pressuring the opposing QB. You pressure the opposing QB and all good things will happen for you. Against Harvard, Brown never came close to the QB, but last night they did. Was this because Brown improved in a week or was URI not as stout as H at the Oline? Perhaps a little of both. But the bottom line is that last night, Brown made stops. Against H they seemed helpless. The Brown offense also played much better. The Brown QB was pressured at times, but he didn't cough it up. But overall, the Brown Oline came to play, and Murphy did his part. Brown has excellent receivers, running backs, and a very capable QB. I really like the back, Bennett. But I think the jury is still out on the Oline. I need to see more to give them a thumbs up. As for the defense, they, too, played well last night, but there were also a lot of times that URI had all day to throw and passes were completed. And this is what happens when you give the opposing QB time. I believe the URI QB threw for over 300 yards. That is still too many. But as for me, the game gave me hope that things are improving.

I generally agree with Grin's assessment with one exception.
I attribute some of the plays that URI's QB had time to Coach Mulrooney's play calling. He mixed up blitzes and coverages--in several situations only rushing three and dropping eight into coverage which clearly confused URI.

Most of URI's pass yardage was in the second half when they were down two TDs and Brown's secondary was keeping the receivers in front of them--cutting off deeper routes.

This year ...for first time in many years ... the Bear D was not as predictable; which allow good teams to pick them apart.

Browns defense is significantly improved this season. They are obviously better coached and have more enthusiasm than they’ve had in the past. Every aspect is improved.: Secondary coverage, open field, tackling, swarming, defense, and line technique.

Yale looked sloppy and out classed today by Lehigh. Congratulations to Coach Cahill and to Lehigh.

Cornell threw four INT's and dug a deep hole vs. Colgate in the first half. The good news is sophomore RB Ricardo Lagares (#33) rushed for 69 yards on 11 carries with 6.1 yards per carry. He was one of Swanstrom's first significant recruits and he did not disappoint. Let's hope Ricardo starts the remaining games this season. Go Big Red!
