Subject: Some advice for Mel

After watching the Dayton game, Mel did the right thing to pull most of the starters early in the 2nd half. With the exception of Amy, too often this team doesn't come to play. This includes Katie who score most of her 24 points late in the games when the decision was pretty much determined. So here's some thoughts;
1) The post players aren't mean enough. They get pushed around by most opponents. We've got 4 to 5 players with the size to play the position. That's 15 to 20 fouls to give. So, use them all. Be mean, not dirty, but close. We need to control the paint if we expect to win. And, our players in these position need a nastier attitude...we're too nice and immature.
2)While I wish we were ready to run a half court offense, we not. So let's press and run more using more of the bench to stay fresh. The freshmen will make mistakes, but they need to play. Statuto did a nice job off the bench. She and the others aren't going to gain confidence sitting.
3)Let's hope the recruiting is being upgraded. To get back to the top 25, the team need help! The right JC transfer in the 4 or 5 position would be a step in the right direction.
Take these thoughts constructively. We all want the same thing...this team improving, playing as a team and winning. But, the status quo ain't getting it done.
