That's a very good point. My dock is down an east/west channel and we commonly have west winds. I'm not sure the chanel is wide enough to takck. I want to start practicing short tacking. Later in the season when things clear out, I want to try that and docking under sail. It's also pretty heavy traffic here. I'm working towards being an engineless sailor and trying not to get in situatins where I'm reliant on my motor but I'm not comfotable yet to get rid of it. I definitely think even if u.r not engineless thinking that way makes u a better sailor. I'm surprised by the ignorance of some experienced captains to things as basic the current/tide patterns and schedule.

I'm still really green but hope ill be ready for the day when I become an engineless sailor by accident or not..
