Good for you Paul. Headed in the right direction for some good adventure soon, huh? What it's all about. Don't fill your head with thoughts of rebuilding your boat just yet. You'll be learning lots about the wind and tides and weather soon, as you gain time on the water. You'll gradually get to know your boat, and the boats of others as the crew with some of the Oar Clubbers out there. Eventually as you learn, you'll figure out what you need, wait to you have the knowledge to determine it yourself, rather than let Mr. Piddlemarks influence you with his directions. Jay has a fine chapter on an example of a schedule one might follow or expect as a new boat owner.
If you get feeling bad, just grab a beer and peruse Seasteading until it is nearly memorized. For whatever else Jay is, he can be a fairly encouraging fellow to us others trying to figure it out. A year from now you'll look back and chuckle, wondering where any trepidation came from. Best, mr. lucky
