Circus Clown.


When the fat clown smiled
His face split in two, a gaping
Wound a blood-red tongue and
Yellow grave stone teeth.

His sad eyes took refuge in
Folds of lard when he laughed
Himself into comic despair and
Down an abyss of silly jokes.

While the audience ate popcorn
Chocolate and hot-dogs and waited
For the elephant, the lion and
The tightrope acts to begin.
