Subject: All "fired-up" about sim subs and beng submissive

Dear LCW members:

I spent part of yesterday doing some market research, since I have a story I'd like to send to a second market. I'm beginning to think I maybe writers should sign cover letters "submissively yours" go ahead and kick me why don't you? At least they should if they submit work to some of the magazines out there.

A lot of them won't accept simultaneous submissions, sure, fine, we all know that. Did you know that there's also a literary magazine that says if you send us something and then withdraw it because it's been accepted elsewhere (life is full of dreams) then we will keep your name in a special file. Now that sounds like a threat to me. Oh yes, and we also take up to a year to reply to submissions. Well, they sure won't have to worry about filing one of my stories anywhere.

I was keeping track of how many mags don't accept sim subs AND take months to answer, but I've given up - there are too many.

subversively yours

DianeG
