DNO have played a role in the development, in the sense of looking for ideas and as mentioned in the other thread as basis of the map, but OOB's were researched independant from that (by Søren), and events were also made from scratch.
Speaking just for myself, the other scenarios you mention have not been studied that much by me.

I have seen your Barbarossa map, and it's simply great. Problem is that it is 6km/hex. Even with 10km/hex we are running into problems getting all we want included within the limits of TOAW's allowed mapsize.
