In reply to: Koala 's message, "When did you sign up for LGM?" on Mon, Feb 16 2004, 16:44:04

hi Koala

yes, it was within the 10 day cooling period stated in the contract. But they gave me a hard time, and as you read other stories on the website - they tricked some people by saying they cannot cancel even within 10-day period because the reason were not valid.

but I am doing my best to help others who are in the same shoes now.

I was very disappointed with CASE when I went there to seek their help to cancel my agreement with LGM within 10 days of signing. The lady said my agreement was legal binding and I have no case as I did not have a cooling off period.

Hi Elsie,
The cancellation was timeshare or CVC?
In 2001,we were mislead in signing for timeshare(Holiday ownership -LGM),thinking all the goodies were true and were given the cooling period of ten days. But to terminate within this period "MUST" have a "VERY GOOD" reasons with documentation as proof eg death, retrenchment or fatally ill.So we feel there's no way to void the contract.
After full payment by monthly installments,we were conned again in 2003 for CVC in thinking we could get back the money under the CASHBACK, guaranteed by the sale person. In this contract,no cooling off period and not given because they said we are already members of LGM,so is not given. As soon as we knows about all their tactics, we discontinue from paying the balance.

HI Elsie,

I have yet to cancel my contract or get a refund from ERI since i signed the contract 1.5 months ago. I went back to confront them within the few days of signing the contract and even approached CASE for help. However I feel that CASE has been pretty passive in their actions. I have thought of seeking legal help, but my boyfriend (who signed the contract jointly) is hesistant about doing the same. I don't feel good that the matter's been hanging.

How was the process of your resolution like? Are there any other alternatives? Did you have to engage a lawyer during the resolution of your case?

My email is nix1981@hotmail.com, if it's possible for you to contact me directly.
