I've been thinking (off and on...mostly off) about the current state of extreme wieniedom in Star Trek. We've now seen (well, you've seen...I might soon) that the level of "serious discussion" in Star Trek has sunk to which kind of viscous liquid they use on each other for "decontamination": hot oil or K-Y jelly.

Am I wrong about the Star Trek PTB? Is it not so much that they're a bunch a lilly livers as it is that Americans today are squeamish about discussing heavy subjects?
