Hannah,

The first thing I need to let you know is that my training is in the fitness, and nutritional realms, not medical. I understand though how you feel to some degree. I was bed ridden for almost a year from 2 ruptured discs in my back in 2003. Both the L4 and L5 were blown and at the time I was preparing for a competitive body building career come back. The pain was mind numbing. But thourgh surgery and lots of prayer in my private time with the Lord, I was able to get through.

The first thing you need to think about is you have to eat for health, not just for weight loss. If you don't have the correct types of calories, your body cannot do its job. The ATkins diet restricts this healthy requirement of "all" types of calories. In fact, you need the carbs to do most of the work to keep you alive while the proteins are used to build and repair tissue. If all you have is protein, then your body simple cannot do its job and you will feel worse.

2nd thing to consider is that you eat only what you need to take in. Eat according to your basil metabolic requirements or just what your body needs. The old saying that you take in less than you expend to lose weight still holds true today. But those still need to be well rounded calories. The trick here is to just not eat as many carbs after 5 p.m. and stick to a more Atkins like diet at that time, but only at that time. Since the body's metabolic needs begin to change at around that time, it would be wise to work in concert with it to see it work as such.

Since you obviously cannot exercise you do need to restrict your weight management with diet. You mentioned that you have hyperinsulinism. What does that mean? Are you diabetic? If so, then unless you need prescription medication, you can control your condition with diet. Don't buy into the old story that you cannot eat carbs. In fact, you need low glycemic, complex carbs in order to stablize your blood sugar. It is only when you eat foods such as sugary, white flour, white potatoes, white rice and most any thing processed, that you get into your problems.

Food that can be eaten are:

* sweet potatoes
* brown rice
* spinich and whole wheat pasta
* veggies of all kinds but steer away from beets, corn and carrots
* Do not eat a lot of fruit but if you do, stay with apples and pears.They have a lower glycemic level.Eat one apple just before every meal in order to aid in your weight loss but do not eat any after 5 p.m.

When does the IBS act up? When you eat lots of veggies or at any time? I have several clients that have IBS and we are able to get them on a high fiber diet and it helps a lot. If you do have IBS I wonder why you would eat such a high protein diet that can actually slow down your digestive process? Carbs, assist in digestion in a very big way.

Also, how much water do you drink a day? Typcially I suggest at least 80 ounces a day as a minimum for most of my female clients. In your case, I might even suggest going as high as a gallon. High protein diets require a lot of water since protein does not have carbs to assist in the assimilation into the body and digestion can be difficult.

I'm not familar with coelaic and lactase deficiency unless your are speaking of being lactose intolerant. Can you drink milk? Even if you can or can't I suggest everyone to stay away from it any way. Milk in adults is typically not necessary.

Can you walk? If so, for how long? Do you work? If you can answer these questions, and impliment some of the suggestions I have made, then I believe we can get you turned around and feeling much better. I will assist you in this area if I can.

have a strong and healthy day.
