National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) provides guidance and recommended staffing levels for fire departments. The key word is “recommended”. The firefighters in the City of Newburgh want more manpower, more overtime so they do less work or have more help to lighten the workload. It’s fine if the City can afford it, but they just can’t afford that level of fire protection. Especially when the Fire Union chose to only respond to calls for service and NOT do any extra firefighter related work such as inspections or fire prevention because it “wasnt in their contract”. These firefighters are self-serving, always have been. And I used to be one of them so I know the BS they pull
