The Charter gives a Mayor the authority to appoint a judge to complete an open term such as Kulkin just created by retiring.
Ms. Mohammed was an Assistant DA, Orange County, now private practice, so experience both prosecutorial and defense. lots of time inside Newburgh Court. Yes, residency requirement must be followed up. meanwhile, she's old enough to have solid experience under her belt, but young enough not to be part of the good ol' boys club wearing suspenders!
