Subject: Catching the BLUES

You would think with the 3+ BILLIONS of tax dollars spent by the NECSD and city over the past 10 years we would have state and nation wide recognition for the success such spending could bring about for our community and students.

That is hardly the case, Instead each year the district sinks to the bottom of the list of every measure of educational achievement, but not spending, not salaries, and not taxes. Instead the city continues to rack up violent crime statistics.

Every year the US Dept of Ed awards hundreds of schools a BLUE RIBBON for their efforts to foster premier learning environments and demonstrates increasing access to high-quality opportunities paving the way for improved learning.

Aside from awards, why can't the district and city after all these DECADES rise to the top 25%, considering the BILLIONS of tax dollars poured into these anti-poverty, social-emotional, after school tutoring, extra staff, 1000s of computers and dozens of "supportive" staff? The city continues to spend in circles more on policing as it "promises" to fight crime only to stand proud as one of the most dangerous communities.

IMHO no one cares to hold anyone accountable. Just about every board and council member and many so-called community leaders are inept, self-serving and/ or fails to understand how to govern effectively. Grandstanding instead of leading, crying and whining instead of leadership, wasteful attention to "their" ideology instead of what is real and more fighting than consensus building.
