There are agendas flying all around here, but the common theme is the incompetency of the City of Newburgh government to communicate in a clear and concise way regarding their policies. They've hired a PR firm that is failing to understand the dynamic between the county(esp. Goshen) and the city that has been ongoing for many decades. It has always been obvious that the county's agenda is to undermine the city. But also obvious is the city's failure to elect and hire competent officials and staff. The fact that a city manager was able to weasel a ridiculous pay hike AND not even bother to live here as required for almost 2 years(as if he actually even lives here now- probably some deal with a landlord to provide an address skirt the law) while the elected officials bow to his every whim. What's also at play is the dubious identities of the 2 opposing political parties that only exist to play good and bad cop to limit the possibilities of government to make any real difference in people's lives. The political fighting acts as a convenient distraction that both parties are glad to accommodate.
