WOW! I would say that the mayor was in rare form, but unfortunately, this is his all too common form. I wonder who advised him to take his post down? The mayor continues to show his ignorance of history despite his full time profession being a history teacher. He should know that political boundaries are just imaginary lines. Since 1865 the City of Newburgh, the Town of Newburgh, and the Town of New Windsor have all had their separate governments (New Windsor prior to 1865). Historically though the three municipalities have been one community with cultural and economic ties. He should think of the three communities as greater Newburgh.

The mayor acts as if the two townships are full of racists and that there are no racists in the City of Newburgh. As the chair, if you will, of the City Council, he should be trying to foster good relationships with the people and governments of the two townships. This post, that he has now taken down, shows his true person though. One who is incapable of fostering good relationships with his neighbors. Maybe, with a new mayor, these historical relationships may be healed, and Greater Newburgh will once again thrive.
