"under the thumb...not allowed"? As I wrote in a previous thread, remaining silent, going along to get along, "just doing my job" excuse...is still being complicit. We are our own sovereign individual fully capable of making our own decisions. There is no moral immunity shield to being accountable for one's own decisions. Aside, imo, the tax implications associated with "investing" incentives in low income property tracts incentivize their continued existance until it becomes profitable to do otherwise, it's not a bug it's a feature and it's a much bigger driver than the self-interest of one individual. “If you want more of something, subsidize it; if you want less of something, tax it.” A good portion of the City of Newburgh is designated as an 'Opportunity Zone'. That's an invitation for outside investors with deep pockets looking for a tax shelter, come what may. Do people not realize this when they rail at "outside investors"?https://opportunityzones.hud.gov/resources/map type in newburgh at the upper search box of the map
I had no idea the amount of 'Opportunity Zones' exist across the U.S.. Considering mega funds such as Blackstone and BlackRock have billion$ worth already in their portfolios, it raises an eyebrow in the least.
