Author: no limit soldier
Subject: let the people speak

-From the Mid Hudson Times article, "Council to Update Rules & Order of Procedure":

"Mayor Torrance Harvey made the recommendation to create a time limit for public hearing sessions to be limited to an hour. Harvey presented this suggestion as a result of the three hour plus public hearing held on the Emergency Tenant Protection Act (ETPA) legislation, rent stabilization and city housing emergency last month."

-A recent post from Facebook group "Living in the City of Newburgh, NY" about the Mayor's comments on the three hour plus public hearing:

"According to the mayor's very public and audible comments at BJ's wholesale yesterday, the meeting was over four hours long, three and a half of which were "non agenda speak and crazy". The mayor was impressed he was "recognized in public". The person I was with recognized his extremely expensive shoes. I didn't listen to the entire dribble. Please remember, there are ears everywhere".

If the Mayor and City Council can receive a raise in pay (lobbied for during COVID-19, when public participation was limited), then they can take the time to listen to the public speak- WITHOUT an hour limitation.
