Newburgh mayor and city manager have shouting match during council meeting (AUDIO)

February 9, 2024

NEWBURGH – Newburgh City Mayor Torrance Harvey and City Manager Todd Venning clashed in a heated shouting match during Thursday night’s city council workshop session.

The issue: breaking protocol and allowing council members to speak during public comment periods.

That’s when the screaming match between the two began.

The two accused the other of breaking protocol and neither would back down as voices were raised.

The mayor accused Venning of “backdoor conversations” with other council members.

Another potential change in running council meetings included limiting public comment to just one hour.

The issues may appear on the regular city council agenda on next Monday night.
