The festival does nothing to "attract people to Newburgh" save for one day. It's organizers have no problem charging existing businesses to use their own sidewalk during the festival. The festival does nothing to promote local business and instead brings in outside vendors to divert business from existing businesses. "Security" on crowded Liberty Street is impossible. The festival has turned into a monster that has nothing to do with its origins. Beyond that it's full of vendors like cell phone companies, insurance agents and real estate agents and cheap terrible food stands that make it nothing but another lowest common denominator "festival". There's nothing uniquely Newburgh about it, unless you think of Newburgh as a dump. It's the "international festival" without the rides and the space. Low quality garbage.

The best thing that happened from the city blocking it last year is that the local businesses got together and created a better alternative that was more spread out, more unique, supported local business and was manageable.
