Also forgot to mention, the city of Newburgh, with one engine covering the whole city, still responds mutual aide to structure fires outside of its jurisdiction. Leaving the very city it's charged with protecting, with absolutely no coverage until a engine can be manned. The city has, and is playing with fire. Fires are cyclical, like the market. Can't be predicted, all you can do is be proactive by having the appropriate apparatus, and manpower arriving on scene for a potential event. City Council doesn't see it like that. Now fires are happening and not enough resources to combat the initial response. Someone is going to get hurt, or worse die. Hate to say, give it time, and the luck that has been bestowed upon the city is going to run out. Notice the mayor and others aren't commenting. It's simple, put that other engine in service so that the FD can have a jump on these fires without having to wait for backup, a situation that was created by a ego driven Mayor and cronies.
