I could not believe what I was hearing last night. Harvey going off on how wonderful our financial situation is, but how did we arrive at this point? We eliminated essential services in the FD, as a result a woman lost her life. What kind of price can you put on that? We pay enormous water fees and they announced that they will increase yet again next year. The best was Shakur, the guy who has disgraced our city and only holds an address here but lives out of town. He told us how hard he works when he gets his paperwork and then has to do research that takes so much time. Apparently his research does not include reading the Charter. Listening to the blowhard woman who boiled it down to fifteen dollars or so per hour, she fails to include the full medical and dental coverage they receive, and will continue to receive for a lifetime if they serve 2 consecutive terms. In a city where 60% or more can't afford to pay for their own medical and dental, I think that is a very generous perk. Yet, some who don't take that coverage, double dip and accept a cash payout instead. No thanks for that, just, "what more can we get". Most importantly, they did not mention all the taxpayers whose concerns fall on deaf ears. They address the clean water and infrastructure as if that is a perk we should be thankful for when it goes without saying anywhere else. Our city is filled with trash from people who just toss their garbage. Vagrants everywhere begging for more money for their next fix. Out of control crime and the list goes on and on.
They sure do have a high opinion of themselves.
