Subject: City's legal expenses

It has come to my attention, that the city outsources legal representation. That in, and of itself isn't uncommon, due to contract negotiations, lawsuits etc.
But I just saw that a legal matter spanning almost a decade over workman's compensation case, in which the city challenged a standing ruling that had never been contested. The city lost at the appellate court, and the ex employee was allowed to retire peacefully. My question is, how much does the city spend on legal fees? They never speak of that, leaving it to executive session, or they cannot comment due to privacy concerns. Frankly, that is BS. A number, not the case material, should be made known. The city also wrapped up a civil lawsuit, no doubt a NDA was signed, so that the public would never know how the city would have been liable if they never settled. This was the Lander street fire 🔥 that unfortunately took the life of one of our citizens. Our Mayor got into a heated outburst with one of the city firefighters over the specifics of the incident, like an engine company responding from the west end, due to staffing changes, brought on from shutting down the HQ engine company. But I digress, the city spends an untold amount on "losers" in the legal world, and that refers to cases that don't have the potential to benefit the city by way of litigation. So, how can the number spent on outside legal fees be attained? Will anyone on the council have the backbone to inquire about this?!?. The cases of which I spoke of , are public record for the most part, but from what I saw , an exhorbant amount of money is spent on legal representation outside corporation counsel. And I feel that the residents are owed, what that amount they spend on services are!. In those public documents, it a clear pattern of relentless litigation, on matters that have established case law. I don't know why the city is looking to set a precedent, in civil service law, in an impoverished community? Please good citizens, please inquire about the fees that are spent on outside legal representation.
