The mayor constantly says that public safety is the city’s number one priority. Public Health is very much a part of public safety. Leaving this vulnerable group of city residents with no heat, hot water or garbage pickup for months on end is a failure of the city government, pure and simple. When was the city first aware of this problem? The mayor says that they are going to call in the O,C. Health Department this week. If this is the answer, why weren’t they called in when the city was first aware of the crisis. Thank-you Councilwoman Stewart and Councilman McLymore for lighting a fire under the city government. Mr. Venning, , his new deputy, and Ms Kelson are all attorneys. How long does it take them to decide whether they can declare a state of emergency in order to solve the crisis and bill the current ownership for the cost of repairs?
