I have not been on here for a long time. What is sad, is the misunderstanding of Newburgh politics. First, the city should NEVER think about a strong mayor form of government. I have always stated the city has always had high expectations for department heads. Most require education or years of experience. Look at the qualifications to be a Council person, you get elected via friends, favors and a lot of BS. As stated by others, Who is elected that would make a strong leader, one with knowledge, leadership, experience and not afraid to make a decision and stand by it. Who, in the city of Newburgh with a brain would want to be a mayor, when you see nothing but infighting on the council. Do you read the stuff on this site? Mayor doesn't let people speak, hide documents that should be released to the public, curse at one another. They need a Sgt at Arms with the backing and testicles to throw idiots that make nasty comments out of the hearings. At the very least an outside city manager with experience can turn the city around with the support of the people and council. He/she needs to have a strong contract if forced out by stupid politic, name calling etc. that he/she is entitled to a large severance pay. At least then the city would be held liable for all of the sh!!t they throw around and destroying anything good. Someone once said " there are people that would sink the ship because they can't be the driver".Call a spade a spade. Omari is a great ship sinker.
