Some who post on here are so ignorant and misinformed. For the RECORD there is “NO TOWING CONTRACT”. The police department maintains a “towing list” which includes ANY towing company that submits an application, passes inspections (completed annually by PD). The fee’s that are charged were PASSED by the city council and memorialized within the City’s code. The only “caveat” to the tow companies applying to be on the list is that they are within X amount of miles of the City of Newburgh and have to respond within 15 minutes when called. The list also rotates evenly and equally among the approved tow companies. So again, there are no “CONTRACTS” the City gives out. Me personally, I think the rates themselves are fair but I would like to see the list be for City towing businesses only, no outside companies.
