Jamie and Darren are walking through the street as the sun is starting to set
DARREN
Getting darker earlier. Not loving it.
JAMIE

JAMIE
Why is Dawn here?
DARREN
She’s moving to Westbury
JAMIE

DARREN

I don’t know why she’s here
JAMIE
You’ve slayed before – I get that. But we’ve never seen that amount at once, not ever.
DARREN
What are you saying?
JAMIE
She’s here for a reason
DARREN

JAMIE
Something else and it’s something that’s gonna get you hurt
DARREN

JAMIE

Darren begins to walk away from her.
JAMIE
He’s already dead Darren!
Darren pauses instantly
JAMIE
The Kindserstot is already dead. You won’t get your sister back. That’s why you’re doing this right? I know you.
Darren storms up to he and gets right in her face
DARREN
You don’t know anything.
He walks away instantly
JAMIE
That’s right! Walk away like you do from everything!
She stands for a moment before a hand clamps over her mouth and pulls her round the corner.
CUT TO.
INT – A.T.C – NIGHT (Amberfield Tech College)
Darren is sat alone, Jamie’s seat is empty. He stares at it angrily.
JACK (O.S)
Boy I can’t wait for this
DARREN
Tell me about it
JACK
I’m sure it’s going to be yet another riveting and life changing event about how the college will change everyone. I bet it’s the exact same speech from last year.
Darren turns around to face him
DARREN
You’re a second year?
JACK
Sadly. I’m hopefully starting Uni this summer
DARREN
Good luck.
JACK
You’re Darren Summer’s right?
DARREN
Depends who’s asking.
JACK
Wow. Defensive as ever
DARREN

I thought you’d moved back to America.
DARREN
No man I thought you’d moved away. You left High School half way through year nine I figured you’d moved out of the area
JACK
No such luck, Mum just wanted me to go private.
DARREN
So, you’ve changed

A lot can happen in five years
DARREN
Five years. Man that’s crazy. I feel kinda old.
JACK
You’re sixteen.
DARREN
I’m seventeen in May!

Here comes the speech, hold on to your seats
Jack nods towards the stage as the head mistress takes to the stand.
MISTRESS
Good evening ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls and welcome to Amberfield College of Technology.
CUT TO.
EXT – COLLEGE – NIGHT
Dawn and Andrew are watching through the windows, sat in bushes.
ANDREW
Um, why are we here exactly?
DAWN
I’m here because I got a feeling, a bad one. You’re here because you’re scared you’ll get lost if you go anywhere alone and you won’t stay in because my Aunt freaks you out.
ANDREW
She’s too pleasant

ANDREW

INT – COLLEGE – NIGHT
MISTRESS

DARREN
How has nobody thrown sharp things at her?
JACK

DARREN

Jack points to the moody looking girl in the wheelchair.
DARREN

DARREN
She’s rude. I “met” her the other day.
JACK

MISTRESS

DARREN

Darren soon realises she’s not talking to him as she stares to the back of the hall.
Darren turns around and sees a vampire gang, one of which is holding Jamie.
DARREN
I think you need to get the hell away from her.
VAMPIRE
Oh, I’m convinced. Here you go
(beat)
Oh wait, no.
DARREN
Let her go. I mean it.
VAMPIRE
Oh he mean’s it – well I’d better back off before he feeds me to death!
MISTRESS
That’s it, leave this building before I call security
VAMPIRE
Already ate them.
The gang begins thinning out through the groups of people who are backing into one corner. Casey slowly reverses out of a fire exit as Dawn comes crashing through the window
DAWN
Hey.
VAMPIRE
Crap. Are you a slayer?
DAWN
You wish.
VAMPIRE
Oh. You’re one of them new things they got, the Guardian’s or something. That’s cute
DAWN
Not like you
VAMPIRE
Hey did you used to live in Sunnydale? You’re Buffy’s sister right?
DAWN
Um…
VAMPIRE
I went to school with her. She was a freak
DAWN
I know! So glad someone…Hey!
VAMPIRE
How’s Spike? A little ashy I here?
DAWN
I think I’m gonna have to make you bleed just a few more gallons than usual
VAMPIRE

JACK

DARREN

Good enough for me. Stab them in the chest with wood.
JACK
We’re gonna need to talk after this.

Jamie bites down on the vampires hand and spins free. She runs up to Darren.
JAMIE
I am so sorry
DARREN
Don’t worry about it. Just get these people somewhere safe – NOT outside.
JAMIE
Got it.
Jamie runs over to the crowd.
JAMIE
Okay, hope you enjoyed the entertainment – let’s go for a tour of the, uh, gym.
The gang start heading to the door as three vampires step in their way.
JAMIE
Charge!
Everyone runs at them at once, trampling them as they run to the gym.
Darren jumps off a table and smacks the leading Vampire in the face.
VAMPIRE
Bit strong – bloody hell you’re one of them too!
DARREN
Don’t ya love it?
Darren kicks him in the face again before snapping a chair leg and staking him.
Dawn is wiped out from the legs and falls flat on her back. She’s about to be bitten as the vamp turns to dust. Jack offers her a hand.
CUT TO.
INT – GYM – NIGHT
Jamie and the parents arrive
JAMIE
Okay I have no clue what I’m doing, so, um…
(thinks)
Oh climbing frame!
PARENT
You want us to climb that thing?
JAMIE
If you don’t want to be severely dead, yeah
PARENT
Good incentive. You ever considered sales?
JAMIE
Not the time.
VAMPIRE#2
Really not.
Jamie spins to see one of the gang, backed by two others.
JAMIE
Crap.
CUT TO.
INT – HALL – NIGHT
Darren throws another vamp into the chairs. Dawn stakes a fifth vampire as the three of them regroup.
JACK
Can we talk yet?
DARREN
Where did the rest of them go?
DAWN
There was more?
DARREN
Definitely.
(pause)
The gym.
CUT TO.
INT – GYM – NIGHT
JAMIE
Okay you might wanna taste me now but I should warn you, not only am I a smoker but I have a thing for garlic and I ate for lunch so it’ll be in my blood because did you know it’s good for your blood?
VAMPIRE#2
No.
JAMIE
Well it is. Probably not yours because of the hatred of it which is…why you shouldn’t eat me and she’s way fatter you’d get a better deal
PARENT#2
Hey!
JAMIE
Hey I’ve got at least fifty years lady, you’re on the last few.
DARREN
How many of you do I have to kill before you let her go?
Dawn grabs a fire extinguisher and smashes the window.
She climbs out and gestures everyone towards it
STUDENT
What about those guys?
DAWN
They can handle themselves
CUT TO
INT – SCIENCE LAB – NIGHT
Jack is routing through several cupboards frantically looking for something
JACK
Bingo.
Jack runs out of the room
CUT TO.
INT – GYM – NIGHT
Jack runs in and hands a glass to Darren
VAMPIRE#2
Holy water? Big whoop. Water proof jacket mate.
DARREN
Yeah.
Darren tosses the glass bottle at the vampires legs, it smashes round it’s knees, splattering everywhere else around it.
VAMPIRE#2
Oh the pain
DARREN
Holy water may not burn through your clothes.
(smiles)
But how fast does fire burn through sulphuric acid?
The vampire looks down in horror as Darren flicks a match to the floor and he goes up in flames.
DARREN
That was so cool.
CUT TO.
INT – DARRENS KITCHEN – NIGHT
ANNE
You guys don’t have to eat it if you don’t want to
Dawn and Darren are poking at the food as if it’s diseased.
DAWN
No it…I’m just not hungry
ANNE
You said you were starving
DARREN
It tastes like waste
ANNE
Pizza?
DARREN

ANNE
Coming right up
Anne grabs the phone and leaves the room as Dawn starts scraping plates into the bin
DAWN
Some day huh?
DARREN
Yeah. Big day.
DAWN

DARREN

DAWN

Me first please. Darren, I’m actually here because there’s a mass increase in demonic energy in Amberfield and I have to tell you something major which is?
Dawn looks up guilty
END OF PART THREE
INT – COLLEGE – DAY
Darren and Jamie walk past the new janitor who stares at them strangely.
JAMIE
Fifties haircut much?
DARREN
I know. Brown sweeper suit not too much for the janitor work either.
EXT – COLLEGE – DAY
Jamie and Darren are walking through the college
JAMIE
So you were saying?
DARREN
Yeah, way to drop a bombshell! She says that when she dies I’ll be called as the head guardian – the energy centre of the four.
JAMIE
Wow. Doesn’t that like make you want to kill her?
DARREN
Only a little bit
JAMIE
Kinda crazy though
DARREN
Very. I don’t feel great knowing that for me to reach my full potential she has to die.
JAMIE

DARREN

JAMIE
So, did Andrew leave?
DARREN
He’s gone back to his boyfriend now, yes.
JAMIE
Always the pretty ones.
DARREN
Such a shame.
JAMIE
Jack’s gotten cute though.
DARREN
Now there’s a guy I never though I’d see again
JAMIE
What line did you feed him?
DARREN
Local gang who were hassling my family – they all suffer weak hearts and involuntary human combustion.
JAMIE
He fell for that?
DARREN
I don’t think so, but there’s a hell of a lot of repression that’s going to happen there.
Jamie looks over at the side of the road where the head mistress is standing.
JAMIE
When did she get so pregnant?
DARREN
Apparently in the last week.
Darren nods Jamie over to the bush as they follow to spy on her.
DARREN
I knew she wasn’t human. That speech was way too rehearsed.
They watch as she steps out into the road and is hit by a car. Casey is driving it.
JAMIE
Oh my god! The crazy girl killed the teacher!
The head mistress takes on a green and spikey demon form before dissolving.
Casey smiles as she drives off
DARREN
She got way too much satisfaction from killing.
CUT TO.
EXT – SCHOOLYARD – NIGHT
Dawn and Darren are sat on the bleachers with the dead demons at their feet.
DAWN
You’ve enjoyed having me here really
DARREN
I guess
DAWN
You wanna get a pizza? I am beyond craving a heart attack on bread
DARREN
Sounds like a plan
Darren stops and closes the gates as they walk away
DARREN
Goodbye Highschool. Hello College.
CUT TO.
INT – CASEY’S ROOM – NIGHT
All the lights are off in her room with the exception of a single dark candle, flickering on her desk. A picture of Darren is in front of it as Casey scatters tiny bones across the table.
