What did you parents think when you told them that you were getting married?

I can remember thinking that I knew what I was doing when I started dating Bob when I was 17, but I can't imagine thinking that my son is ready to be married now, and he's 20! At 17, I knew that Bob was the right person. I knew that we would be married (I told him so on our 2nd date.) I knew that we would have one child, a dark-haired boy. So that's what I did--right down to the last detail. :) At 45, I can't imagine being that sure about anything that new.

We didn't get married until I was 24, because Bob was afraid I'd throw him over for some young stud. :) I would have married him on the 2nd date. A 17-yr-old in love. Is there anything less sensible on the planet?

When I think of my poor father who bit his tongue on the whole age thing.... He was a saint.

But what about you? Did your parents worry that you were too young? Did you have any doubts or worries?

Joan
