In reply to: Sue G. 's message, "Question re: LJS Series" on 09:55:18 12/03/06 Sun

It is from "The Necklace".

Plot: "A plantation owner and his wife are murdered, and her jewels stolen. Before the man dies, he utters "It was a man with one … " When Long John is later found with her necklace, of course he is suspected, even though he insists that the necklace was given to him by a one-eared man in payment of a debt."

Purity catches the one-eared man, and tries to blackmail Long John, who is in jail, into marrying her by telling him that she will only turn Slygo over to the law if he promises to marry her. Of course she doesn't succeed. <grin>

Arr, indeed, matey! Thanks for the quick answer, Eva. Believe me, if I had any "unreleased" episodes, you guys would know about it! ;-) All those quotes came from the same 14 shows that have been available on video for the last seven years (or more ... a couple of the VHS episodes I have were released in the '80s!).

Oh! Thank you! It sounded a little familiar but I couldn't remember him actually proposing to Purity. I'll have to watch it again to see how he connived his way out of that one. I KNOW he didn't want to get married!!!
When I first read it, I thought that maybe one of our friends from Australia had contributed the line from one of the remaining episodes. I forget, did we ever find out if those episodes were released in Australia last year? I know there was a discussion about it but I don't remember the outcome.

Possible spoiler alert:

As I recall it was a clever bit of reverse psychology. Let me know when you find out, if I don't get a chance to watch it first.
