Silas,
First of all outstanding suggestions here. Platonn drill is so badly underrepresented in this hobby. Period readings give a strong indicationit was widely used on both sides.
Now the good news. The Red River Battalion is well versed in platoon drill. Just two weeks ago the 6th Texas was going through the motions. Since Company K has only one officer, the officer was taking the first platoon and the second sgt took the second. The first sgt remained as the guide. Its really not that hard to learn, makes a world of diffrence on the drill field and looks sharp. I say bully for ya'all to learn it.
With the terrain at Franklin if your a flank company, this could be used to refuse the line, put out skirmishers, and is down right handy to pass through obstacles.
Lastly its also great for breaking up the company into details for organized work.
