Chad and all,

I learned the same news that Mark passed on just a day ago and have been sorting it out in my mind since. Clearly, we would undertake what we are aiming to do whether there were 10 participants or 10,000 in the two streamer battles. With that said, just for the sake of the "fight-march-fight" feel, I was looking forward to dirtying up the Enfield.

I can't blame the Red River Battalion for their decision not to attend en masse- the utterly unprofessional lack of information which has come from the organizers of the two events is the true culprit. Let's face it, the 140th anniversary didn't really sneak up on anyone. They've had as much time as they could have needed to make this something special, to send invites to as many units as possible, and to pass on info to those that have responded. It sounds like they have failed on all of those counts.

Chad, as to your question, I'm not sure how to answer. One POSSIBLE thought might be to stow Federal gear in vehicles at Pleasant Hill. We fight at Mansfield as CS, do the march, and change prior to the PH fight. That seems like it would be a bit of a logistical headache and that guys who are strapped to put together one impression would now be asked to do two. For those of y'all who are shipping stuff down that adds another bit of expense.

So, I'm not opposed to us putting on blue for a portion of the weekend but I'd only say "let's do it" if we have 100% support from everyone undertaking the march. My guess is that there will be at least a few boys in blue for the two fights and things might just work themselves out. If we were in this purely for the battles then we'd have more of a stake in fleshing out the ranks but those are peripheral to our larger goal.

Others' thoughts?
