I agree with what has been said previously. If this does happen, I think students should not be put through embarrassment, because that could be detrimental to them. You should cut the songs they are not ready for and focus on the songs they are ready for. This way they will do good, but should feel bad that they did all the work for the songs they didn't end up doing.

I agree that the students need to have the music known beforehand, and that if they dont know all the songs, then some need to be cut out and just work on a couple to make them really good... At the same time though, I would like to pose the question, if the teacher has been harping on the students to learn the pieces since the beginning of the year, should the teacher let the students go out with at least one piece that they dont have prepared to teach them a lesson? Because sometimes, not everything can be just told... they have to be experienced...
