Welcome to the new exciting special, compiled especially for all you fans who need some catching up to do. My name is Sam and my friend Alyssa is in Ecuador giving me all the latest gossip and juicy info. She SMSes me all the going-on’s at the 2004 Miss Universe pageant.

MISS ARUBA ON A VERY STRICT DIET
Hmm, interesting. At the welcome dinner and over the weekend Miss Aruba has been eating very, very little. In fact, at the welcome dinner she only snacked on a few pretzels and drank five glasses of water. She also enjoyed an apple at the Sunday breakfast (or luncheon) while the other girls snacked on nutritious, yet healthy food. MUO realises the need to supply fruits, yoghurt and vegetables along with other wholesome foods, but Zizi Lee has just refused to eat. She drinks a lot of water though.
AMELIA VEGA LETS SLIP HER FAVOURITE
And it’s not her successor, Miss DR. In fact, Miss Thailand is Amelia’s favourite contender for the crown. At the welcome dinner, Amelia hosted the event and while everyone was enjoying themselves, Amelia chatted away with Miss Thailand as if they knew each other since kindergarten. Afterwards, Miss Japan or Miss Chinese Taipei heard Amelia telling Miss Thailand she was her favourite. So what’s wrong with having a favourite anyways?
MISS USA TO WEAR POLAR WHITE (ICE BLUE) AS EVENING GOWN
This is the colour gown that Miss USA will present herself in come May 27. Apparently, the girls were talking about the fashions and the tensions of prelim night. It is reported that the same designer who designed her Miss USA dress will be designing her dress at Miss Universe. At this time, no further information has been given on the exact look and design of the gown.
SEVEN FORMER MISS UNIVERSE TITLEHOLDERS TO ATTEND 53rd ANNUAL MU PAGEANT
Seven former Miss Universe titleholders will be attending the 53rd edition. Most of them are from South America. Miss Universe 1997, Brook Lee; Miss Universe 2001, Denise August and Miss Universe 2002, Justine Pasek are known to be in attendance. It was also reported that they would make a quick appearance during the live NBC telecast on June 1.
SO FAR, THEY ARE A FRIENDLY BUNCH! NO BITCHINESS OR NAIL SCRATCHING
Every year Miss Universe labels BITCH OF THE YEAR! And last year, the “bitch” apparently won. But this year, it’s all smiles and affability at the pageant. All the contestants are having a good time frolicking in the sun. Perhaps we will have multiple Miss Congenialities this year?
MISS PHOTOGENIC POLL STARTS THIS WEEK!
On www.nbc.com, the 2004 Miss Universe photogenic voting will open (on Friday or Saturday). You may vote ONCE for the girl you believe embodies that special something behind the lens of the camera. Will Puerto Rico make it a fourth consecutive victory? Only time will tell…
