Chananthorn, 1.69 m tall, holds a degree in engineering, and is preparing to start training as a jet pilot for Thai budget airline Air Asia.

She will greet 87 beauties from all over the planet during the Miss Universe 2005 pageant to be held in Bangkok next May.

It's the second time the Kingdom of Thailand hosts the Miss Universe pageant. The first time was in 1992, when Michelle McLean of Namibia won the crown.

Thailand has won the Miss Universe crown twice: With Apsara Hongsakula (1965) and Porntip Nahnkirunkanok (1988).
