Tiphereth,
It is a shame you think that way about Mr. Goodkind's writing ability in the first few books. I am a writer, and am working on my second fantasy novel at the moment. I don't write to become published, I write for the sheer joy. I have been reading heavily since I was 10, over 2,561 books total, and subsequently have been writing for nearly as long. If you are not a writer yourself Tipereth, I suggest you try creating a character that is well rounded, exciting, with personal quams and issues. Then make about fifty more, and put them into a storyline that has no holes or obvious ways out, keeps the reader interested, and pulls the yarn to life. I am thouroughly convinced that you will find it much more difficult than you think. And if you are a writer, as I am, then I am amazed that you don't appreciate the depth of every single Goodkind character. Then again, these are meely MY personal ideas. And as the cliches go "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder", "to each his own", and "one man's trash is another man's treasure.
