Subject: 1st CHEMO

I was able to receive my 1st chemo treatment with the new drug this passed Friday. The actual procedure went well, I didn't have any problems and felt fine.

That evening and since then I have had body aches similar to flu aches. That is normal for this drug. I have been taking Tylenol and it does help.

If all goes well, I get my next treatment this coming Thursday.

Hey Stacy,
Good to see a post from you. Have been wondering how you're doing. Glad the new chemo is agreeing with you. What you described is very similar to Mom's reaction; she's on docetaxel and carboplatin.
Keeping you in our prayers.

It's great to hear from you, Mom and I ask each other often if either us of had heard anything yet. How did the port-a-cath insertion go for your Mom? Did she tolerate the surgery well?

The Docetaxel is also known as Taxotere. It's more commonly called Taxotere. My doctor thought about that same regiment for me but he decided to go with the Navelbine for now.

Is your Mom home yet? Is she staying with anyone?

I too am keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Hi Cliff. I guess it agrees with me. So far I've had body aches that I can help with Tylenol. But I've also had a funny stomach. It's not really nauseaus but it's right on the edge of it when I eat. When I eat it starts to feel funny. I can only eat light things and not a lot of it. I guess that could be a good thing for losing weight but I HAVEN'T LOST ANY!! Hey, if I have to have a negative thing happening, I EXPECT the positive result out of it!!

Hopefully the nausea is just a temporary effect, as you get used to the drug, and you'll be eating steaks and ribs and big greasy hamburgers again.

Did you get them to put and grenadine in your Navelbine?

Well, if you call Aranesp the same as Grenadine then YES. They are able to put the Aranesp straight into the IV now vs. putting it in my stomach. Thank GOD, remember how I used to talk about that horrible shot?!?!?! Now it goes right in the IV and doesn't hurt a bit.

My stomach handled a bologna and cheese sandwich today. And that's about it. I'm hoping I can get a piece of watermelon down this evening.

I hope your stomach feels better soon. I certainly wouldn't want to live on bologna sandwiches for very long. Besides, how will I be able to take you to dinner if you can't eat???????

Patrick and I are going to Ocean City tomorrow, coming back Friday. We need the time together. He was in Sheppard Pratt for a week after drawing some rather nasty pictures of my demise and putting them all over the walls in the hall upstairs. He was diagnosed with depression, and a mood disorder. So he's now on two meds. He's not too happy about that, but he's been behaving well since he got back. I hope the meds kick in soon, and he starts feeling more positive. I think some fun at the beach, away from home and chores and the usual routine, will help.

Thank you for the sweet note. You are quite the friend also!! This summer sure isn't anything like last summer, huh?

I sure know who my "force" is and I hope He stays with me at all times. And when He can't, I hope He send lots of Angels to sit on my shoulders!!

Hey Wonder Woman! So how is it going with the new chemo? I hope its not been too hard on you. Mom says "Hello"...she asks about you a lot. (You've been quite an inspiration...)
Don't know if I told you, but they stopped her chemo...it was just too hard on her...She has to still do four weeks of Rituxin and then we'll see what happens. She goes for a pet scan next week..I guess that will tell the tale. How long will u be doing this round of chemo? Is it a new drug they're trying out or have u had it before? I hope all goes smoothly for you....You deserve a break after all u went thru....I'll keep checking in here to see whats happening..
Tell your Mom hi.....Take Care..
