In reply to: Stacy 's message, "RITA" on 12:24:08 09/23/05 Fri

My brother lives in Anahuac, which he says is close to an hour from Houston. He didn't get stuck in the backups out of Houston--and he left on Wednesday, before the crowd. I talked to him Thursday, and he was already in Austin at the time. I see that that Rita weakened quite a bit, and hit farther east, so I think he may have avoided severe damage. Of course, there's the possibility of flooding, because he lives about a mile from Trinity Bay. He won't have anything to report until he goes back hope. Hopefully the news won't be too bad.

I talked to my brother last night. Because the hurricane veered east, his town was spared any serious damage. He lost a strip of trim near his roof--that was all the damage he sustained. However, there is no electricity in town, and it may be a month before it's back on.
