In loving memory of Debbie Nicklas. She was Dr. Hahn's secretary for many years and I've had the fortune of knowing her since 1999. We lost Debbie on October 31st, 2004 due to complications of liver cancer.

This is the obituary in the Baltimore Sun.

"NICKLAS, Deborah J. On October 31, 2004, DEBORAH JEAN NICKLAS (nee Betz) beloved wife of Richard W. Nicklas, devoted mother of Lauren Nicklas, devoted daughter of Walter A. and Ruth A. Betz (nee Swank) devoted sister of Patricia Mugrage. Funeral services will be held at the E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home P.A., 11750 Belair Rd. (Kingsville) on Thursday at 10 A.M. Interment Fork United Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M."

If you know Debbie you can view her obituary in the Baltimore Sun on-line. There is a place to sign a "guest book" for her family. This is the link, just cut and paste it and put it in the address field.

So sorry to hear that & after reading the obituary I realize that when I worked at Madonna Heritage assisted living home I (and the rest of us who worked there of course) took care of both of her grandmothers until there passing. It sure is a small world. She sure does have a really nice family it's really sad to see that happen..

It certainly is a small world!! How long ago did you work there? Did you ever meet her daughter Lauren? Sometimes Lauren would work in the office with Debbie to help her out.

I believe Debbie found out about her liver cancer in June of this year. She had surgery to remove the cancer in the liver. They did get it all so she didn't need chemo but she had severe complications from the surgery. I don't know all the details but I was told that she was aware on Saturday when the family decided to take her off everything. She died peacefully with her family there around 1:00am Sunday morning.

Gosh it's been a while since I worked there I was working there when I was hanging out with Mark in Jarrettsville. I worked there from 1993-1997. I remember Lauren's name but not a face if I'm thinking right she was just a kid when I took care of them I remember pictures and I'm pretty sure they were of her.
I'm glad she went peacefully & that her family was with her.
