Subject: DOCTOR VISIT UPDATE

Here's the update from my doctor's visit yesterday. Dr. Hahn received the written report from the radiologist for the CT scan. According to the scan, there is very minimal growth of the mass. He said at this point he is not willing to give up on the Xeloda pill chemotherapy.

I started the new cycle yesterday and as usual I will take 8 pills per day for 14 days. I am excited to get to stay on this chemo to try to give it a chance to work. Sometimes the pills take longer to take effect. As long as I'm on this drug I get to keep my hair!! YEA!!

I was a little concerned because the CT scan said that a "sclerotic focus" was detected on one of my vertebrae and they suggested a bone scan to rule out the cancer spreading to the bones. However, Dr. Hahn has never said anything about it. I read the report myself and saw their findings.

I called his office today to ask about it. He said he is aware of it and he is watching it. At this point he believes it is the mass that is in my lung. That mass is VERY close to the spine and it may be attaching itself to the spine. It is not "mets" to the bone however we will continue to watch it. If any other spots appear on future CT scans then I will get a bone scan. So far it does not warrant a change in chemotherapy. If more spots appear then I would have to take a drug to strengthen the bones. It's called Zometa. But that is not necessary now.

All in all it was a good visit. I was so excited to find out that I am continuing on the same path I've been on. AND I was VERY excited to hear that the lymph nodes are still in remission!

Hi Stacy, Yes, I am praying loudly that the mass disappears with the chemo. You know how I feel about prayer--God wants to know what we want, and I don't hesitate asking!! He has been good to both you and Jack, and I pray that it will continue---I know that it will!! I pray daily for your good health.

It is great news that the lymph nodes are in remission!! Dr. Hahn sounds as though he has everything under control. That is good. I can tell that you like him.

Remember too, that Feb. will soon be over and Spring will soon be on its way. That is always a happy thought.

Keep up the good attitude and remember to laugh ofter--I know that you do. Jack and I send our love and prayers. Bonnie

Hey Stacy
Sounds like it was indeed a good visit. I'm very glad to hear that the lymph nodes are clear! From what you told me when all this started, that was the biggest concern. Hopefully that bugger in your lung will get tired and give up!

Hope you had a chance to get outside today and enjoy your scooter! These 60-degree days don't happen too often in February--gotta take advantage of them!
