I also disagree with the aspect of losing money. I know that this has nothing to do with computer mediated communication but it does have something to do with copyright. When louie vuitton purses became really big and people were buying knockoffs but the sale of the genuine authentic louie vuitton purses went through the roof. So I don't believe that Louie vuitton is in fear of losing money but I do think that they have a problem with their trademark design being douplicated without their permission.
I also think that then it comes to things such as DVD players that if Sony makes a DVD player that Panasonic can come along and make a cheaper DVD player becuase SONY can't claim ownership of all DVD players ( unless they can and then I would be wrong) But I think the person/company with the patent or copyright for DVD players doesn't stop people from making them they jsut make the companies that make them ( sony panasonic) etc. pay them for each one that they sell. That way they both are making money.
I hope that this post makes sense.
