What a fine king he was shaping up to be, she thought with no small amount of pride. She refused to believe that his intervening had anything to do with their familial ties. Hex was the sort to care about those whom he considered his responsibility. As he pulled away, she resisted the urge to step forward and keep her features buried in the concealing locks of his mane. Elven was well aware of the fact that hide-and-seek was over and it was time for a more grown-up agenda. Lifting her chin resolutely, she met his eyes without flinching. The broken shards of her heart were easily reflected in her dark pools though the dame no longer cared. Her sobbing had proved that she was not fine at all and no amount of fibbing would deter Hex from the matter now. Despite her resolve to stay strong, the femme was nonetheless relieved as he gently cleared away her tears before clutching her to him once more. Why couldn't The Sandman have been more like Hex? Loving and steadfast, loyal and protective. Hex's sincerity was not to be questioned, his every word spoken earnestly and honestly. If only... Sighing, the dame shook her head but failed to pull away from Hex's embrace.

.:Who it was is of no importance:. she murmured softly, unwilling to tattle on the one who had reduced her to this groveling state. A small part of her would delight at seeing Hex pound The Sandman into a useless pile of dust but then again, what would it solve? She was still a fool and she'd brought it upon herself.

.:He's no longer a part of my life and I promise you, I'll be fine:. Even now, one could see the pieces slowly coming together, the mare painstakingly resurrecting the heart that had been brutally rended apart.
