So why has this practice been adopted? What advantage in positioning or officiating does it purport to give? And you then rely on the touch-judge moving away from the correct position to look for things that the referee should be looking for: does that not in itself indicate that the referee is in a poor position if the touch-judge has to cover for the referee?
