It's not that they don't love it mate, same as the players. I don't think anyone would train that hard and cop that much criticism for money alone.

It's just that the TV Stations run the game nowadays and to send players off and etc would make for a "bad game" on TV apparantly.

I personally don't like the "on-report" system at all.

And just a quick note, about the forward passes, it isn't actually the touch judge's job to officiate or call those - the touch judge is to rule on the touch line and backplay and they shouldn't become "ballwatchers". That's how i've been taught anyway. Sure, if the touchjudge is in position they can call them, but it isn't their responsibility.
